Make a list of your own

Keep things that aren't staff, products or events (pets for adoption, vehicles, programs, partners) in a list, and show them on any page.

Some businesses have a group of things that none of the built-in lists fit: the cats at a cat café, the cars on a lot, the programs a school offers, the sponsors of an event. Make a list of your own for them. You keep them in one place, and show them on any page with a Your own list section.

Staff belong in Team, things with prices that people buy in Products, and dated happenings in Events. A list of your own has no prices, checkout or booking.

Make a list

  1. Click Lists in the left menu.
  2. Click Make a list of your own.
  3. Pick the starter that is closest: Pets for adoption, Vehicles, Properties, Programs, Partners and sponsors or Locations. Or click Start from scratch, name the list, and say what one item is called (like "cat").
  4. Click Add and fill in the first one. The starter's questions are just a head start; you can change them.

You can have up to five lists of your own, and 200 items in each. Only owners and developers can make a list or change its fields. Anyone who edits the site can add, change and remove the items.

Change what you keep about each one

Open the list and click Change the list.

  • Facts about each item. Add, rename, reorder or remove them. Each is short text, long text, a photo, a choice from a list, yes or no, a button with a link, a date or a time. Once the list has items you can still add and rename facts, but a fact's kind stays as it is.
  • How it looks on a page. Say which fact is the title, the picture, the line under the title, the badge, the short description and the button.
  • Status. Pick a choice fact (like Available, Pending, Adopted) and tick the choices that mean an item is done. Done items are hidden on the page, and stay in your list.
  • A page of its own. Turn on Give each one a page of its own and each item gets a page you can share, like /cats/mochi.

Show it on a page

  1. In the list, click Add to a page and pick the page. Or, on a page, click Add a section and choose Your own list.
  2. Pick Which list, a Layout, and How many to show.
  3. Leave Hide the ones that are done on to keep adopted or sold items off the page.
  4. Click Publish.

When you add an item to the list, every page that shows it changes.

Delete a list

In Change the list, click Delete list. Its items go with it, and sections that showed it ask you to pick another list.

Still stuck?

Try it on the live demo first; nothing you do there is saved. If you’d rather have a person do it, ask for a work request from your dashboard. You’ll get a quote before any work starts.
