Version history

Look at an earlier version of your site and put it back with one click, if a change didn't work out.

Every time your site is published, a version of it is saved: when you publish, when an AI change is published, and when your site was first set up. If a change didn't work out, you can go back to any earlier version. Nothing is ever lost, because going back saves a new version too.

See your versions

  1. Click Version history in the left menu.
  2. Your versions are listed newest first, with the date and time and what made each one, like "Published by Dana" or "AI change published". The top one is marked Live now.

Look at an earlier version

  1. Click Preview next to a version.
  2. The preview on the right shows your site as it was then. Click through its pages like any other preview.
  3. Click Back to my draft when you're done. Looking never changes anything.

Restore an earlier version

  1. Click Restore next to the version you want, or Restore this version while you preview it.
  2. Read the message, then click Restore and publish.
  3. Your site is published as it was then, and is live in about a minute.

The restore is saved as a new version at the top of the list. If you change your mind, restore the version just below it.

If you have unpublished changes, restoring replaces them. The message tells you how many there are. Publish them first if you want to keep them in your history.

What a version includes

A version holds everything you edit: words, photos, pages, lists like events and reviews, your menu, business info and hours, theme and settings, and your Spanish wording.

It doesn't include messages from your forms, store orders, your domain or your plan. Restoring never changes those.

Tips

  • Changed a page's web address or deleted a page, then restored an older version? The old page and its address come back too.
  • Before you publish, smaller mistakes have quicker fixes: Undo appears right after you remove a section or delete a page. See Edit text and photos.
  • If restoring stops with a problem to fix, like a button without a link, the version is in your draft. Fix it and click Publish. See Publish your changes.

Still stuck?

Try it on the live demo first; nothing you do there is saved. If you’d rather have a person do it, ask for a work request from your dashboard. You’ll get a quote before any work starts.
