Job openings

Post open positions with their own pages, let people apply, and show up in Google's job search.

Hiring? Add each opening to your Job openings list. It gets its own page, shows in your Job openings section, and is listed in a way Google's job search understands, so people looking for work nearby can find it.

Post a job

  1. Click Lists in the left menu, then Edit job openings.
  2. Click Add job.
  3. Fill in:
    • Job title: the name people search for, like "Landscape crew member".
    • Type: Full-time, Part-time, Seasonal or Contract.
    • Pay: like "$18–22 an hour" or "$45,000 a year". Say "an hour", "a year", "a week" or "a month", so Google can show the pay too.
    • Location: leave it empty to use your city.
    • Short description: a line or two for the list of openings.
    • Full description: duties, requirements, schedule and benefits. Leave a blank line between paragraphs, and start a line with ## for a subheading.
    • Posted on: starts as today.
  4. Make sure Accepting applications is on.
  5. Click Publish.

Let people apply

Apply button is the button on the job's page. It starts as "Apply now", going to your contact page.

  1. Change the Button text if you like.
  2. Under Goes to, pick one of your pages (like your contact page, or a page with a job application form), your email, or Another website… to link to an application form somewhere else.

The button shows at the top of the job's page, and again at the end of a long description.

Set a closing date

To stop taking applications on a certain day, set Applications close (optional). The job's page shows "Apply by" with that date, and after it, the job counts as closed by itself.

Close a job when it's filled

Turn off Accepting applications. The job:

  • leaves your Job openings section,
  • moves under Closed in your list,
  • keeps its page, which now says the position is no longer accepting applications, with no apply button,
  • is taken out of Google's job search.

When you're hiring for it again, turn it back on and update Posted on. To remove a job completely, click Delete.

Show openings on a page

  1. In Lists, click Add to a page on the Job openings card, pick the page under Which page?, and click Add and edit. Or add a Job openings section to a page from Pages, like your careers page.
  2. Set the section:
    • Heading and Intro.
    • Show pay: shows each job's pay in the list.
    • When nothing is open: what the section says when you have no open jobs. Keep it friendly, like inviting people to send a note anyway.

The section lists every open job, each linking to its own page.

The job's own page

Each job gets its own page, like /careers/landscape-crew-member. It shows the type, pay, location, the date it was posted and the closing date, then the full description, with your apply button and a Share button.

To choose the address yourself, change Web address at the bottom of the job's form. If people have already shared the link, leave it alone: changing it breaks the old link.

While a job is open, its page tells Google the title, type, pay, location, description and the dates it was posted and closes. That's what Google uses to list it in its job search. To help:

  • Use a plain Job title people would search for.
  • Write the Pay with "an hour" or "a year" so it can be read.
  • Fill in the Full description.
  • Turn off Accepting applications as soon as the job is filled, so people don't apply for a job that's gone.

Still stuck?

Try it on the live demo first; nothing you do there is saved. If you’d rather have a person do it, ask for a work request from your dashboard. You’ll get a quote before any work starts.
