Your FAQ list
Answer the questions customers ask once, show them on any page, and let us suggest questions from your own site.
Customers ask the same questions again and again: do you charge for estimates, do you take cards, how soon can you start. Answer them once in your FAQ list, and show them with an FAQ section on any page. Visitors click a question to see its answer.
Add a question
- Click Lists in the left menu, then click Edit faqs on the FAQs card.
- Click Add question.
- Type the Question the way a customer would ask it, like "Do you charge for estimates?"
- Write the Answer: a sentence or two, the way you'd say it on the phone.
- Optional: give it a Topic, like "Pricing".
- Click Publish when you're done.
A question without an answer isn't shown on your site. The list marks it "No answer yet, so it isn't shown", and a publish check reminds you.
Change the order
Questions show in the order of the list. Use the up and down arrows next to a question to move the most important ones to the top.
Use suggested questions
At the top of Lists › FAQs, Suggested questions can draft questions for you. We read your site and the questions customers usually ask businesses like yours. Answers come only from your own pages, and nothing is added to your list until you keep it.
- Click Suggest questions. It takes a moment while we read your site.
- Go through each suggestion. A label shows where its answer came from, like "From your Services page" or "From your business info".
- For each one, do one of these:
- Click Keep to add it to your FAQ list.
- Click Edit to change the question, answer or topic first, then Done, then Keep.
- Click Skip to throw it away.
- Click Publish when you're done.
Some suggestions are marked Needs your answer. These are questions your customers likely ask that your site doesn't answer yet. Type your answer in Your answer (the hint under it says what to cover), then click Keep.
Click Suggest more for another batch. Suggestions never repeat a question already in your list. Skip all clears every suggestion at once.
Show questions on a page
- In Lists, click Add to a page on the FAQs card.
- Under Which page?, pick the page, then click Add and edit.
- An FAQ section is added and opened for you.
For a page of all your questions, click Pages, then New page, and pick the FAQ template. It shows every question grouped by topic, with a way to ask something else. See Add a page.
Show one topic in a section
Topics let each page show the questions that fit it, like pricing questions on your pricing page.
- Give your questions a Topic in Lists › FAQs, like "Pricing".
- Open the FAQ section on the page.
- Type the topic in Only this topic.
Leave Only this topic empty to show every question. Turn on Group questions by topic to put a small heading over each topic, which suits a page of all your questions. Questions without a topic are grouped at the end.
If no answered question has the topic you typed, the section would be empty, so a publish check stops you until you fix it.
Questions for one section only
An FAQ section can also hold its own questions instead of your list. Open the section and set Questions to Written here, for this section only, then add questions under it. Use this for questions that only make sense in one place. Everything else is easier to keep up to date in your list.
How FAQs help on Google and in AI answers
Every page with an FAQ section tells search engines its questions and answers, in the format they read best. Google can show them under your listing, and AI tools like ChatGPT can quote them when someone asks about a business like yours. Clear, specific answers in your own words work best. See Show up in AI answers.
