Lists

Keep your events, news, jobs, team, reviews, projects, products and FAQs in one place, and show them on any page.

Some things on your site show up in more than one place: an event on your home page and on your events page, a review on your services page and your about page. Instead of typing them into each page, you keep them once in a list. Sections on your pages then show the list. Change an event in Lists, and every page that shows it updates.

The lists you have

Click Lists in the left menu. You'll see a card for each list, with how many items it has and the pages it's Shown on.

  • Events: classes, markets, open houses, workshops. Past events drop off by themselves. See Events.
  • News: updates, specials and announcements, newest first. See News posts.
  • Job openings: open positions, each with its own page, so they show up in Google's job search. See Job openings.
  • Team: your staff, shown in Team sections. Each person can have a profile page. See Team.
  • Reviews: your best reviews, shown in Reviews sections. See Reviews.
  • Projects: jobs you're proud of, with before and after photos. See Projects.
  • Products: what you sell in your online store. See Set up your online store.
  • FAQs: questions customers ask, answered once. See Your FAQ list.

Add an item

  1. Click Lists in the left menu.
  2. Click Edit events (or Edit news, Edit team and so on) on the list's card.
  3. Click Add event (or Add post, Add person and so on) at the top right.
  4. Fill in the form that opens. The preview updates as you type.
  5. Click Publish when you're ready.

Lists with dates (events, news, jobs and projects) put a new item in date order for you. In the other lists, a new item goes to the top.

Edit, copy or delete an item

  1. Open the list and click an item to open its form.
  2. Change anything you like.
  3. To start a similar item, click Duplicate. You get a copy named "(copy)" to change.
  4. To remove it, click Delete.

Click the item again to close its form.

Events are split into Upcoming and Past, and job openings into Open and Closed, so the ones that matter now are at the top.

Change the order

In Team, Reviews, Products and FAQs, the order of the list is the order on your site: the first items show first. Use the up and down arrows next to an item to move it.

Events, news, jobs and projects are always shown by date, so they have no arrows.

Show a list on a page

A list only appears on your site where a section shows it.

  1. Open the list (or stay on the Lists screen) and click Add to a page.
  2. Under Which page?, pick the page.
  3. Click Add and edit. The section is added near the bottom of the page, and its form opens so you can set its heading and what it shows.

You can also add the section from the page itself: open the page in Pages, then use Add section below and pick Events, News, Job openings, Team, Reviews, Projects, Products or FAQ.

Each list's card shows the pages it's Shown on. Click a page name to jump straight to the section that shows it. A section can show part of a list, like one category of events or one group of your team; each list's guide explains how.

Items with their own page

Some items get a page of their own, which list sections link to:

  • Events, at /events/…, once they have a name and a date.
  • News posts, at /news/…, once they have a headline and a date.
  • Job openings, at /careers/….
  • Projects, at /projects/….
  • Team members, at /team/…, when you turn on Give them a profile page.
  • Products, at /shop/…, while they're For sale.

Reviews and FAQs don't have their own pages.

The page's Web address is at the bottom of the item's form. It's made from the name if you leave it empty. If people have already shared the link, leave it alone: changing it breaks the old link.

Still stuck?

Try it on the live demo first; nothing you do there is saved. If you’d rather have a person do it, ask for a work request from your dashboard. You’ll get a quote before any work starts.
