Reviews

Keep your best reviews in one list, show the right ones on each page, and make it easy for happy customers to leave a new one.

Reviews from real customers are some of the most convincing words on your site. Keep them in one list, and show them with a Reviews section on any page. Tags let each page show the reviews that fit it best.

Add a review

  1. Click Lists in the left menu, then click Edit reviews on the Reviews card.
  2. Click Add review.
  3. Paste the customer's words into Review, and fill in the rest (see below).
  4. Click Publish when you're done.

Copy reviews word for word from Google, Facebook, Yelp or a customer's email. Reviews stay in the customer's own words on every language version of your site; they're never translated.

What you can fill in

  • Review: the customer's words, up to 400 characters. Pick the part that says the most.
  • Name: first name and last initial is usual, like "Dana R."
  • Detail: what the job was or where, like "Patio project, West Asheville".
  • Stars: 5, 4, 3 or None.
  • Where it was posted: Google, Facebook, Yelp or Sent to us.
  • Date: when it was written.
  • Link to the original (optional): the review's own address, so visitors can see it where it was posted.
  • Tags: optional words that say what it's about, like "patios, maintenance". Separate tags with commas.

A new review starts with the words "Paste the review here." A publish check stops you from publishing until you replace them.

Change the order

Reviews show in the order of the list, and a section showing 3 shows the first 3. Use the up and down arrows next to a review to move your best ones to the top.

Show reviews on a page

  1. In Lists, click Add to a page on the Reviews card.
  2. Under Which page?, pick the page, then click Add and edit.
  3. A Reviews section is added and opened for you.

Under Shown on, the Reviews card lists every page that shows your reviews. Click one to go to its section.

Show the right reviews on each page

Tags let a page about patios show reviews about patios.

  1. In Lists › Reviews, give each review one or more Tags, like "patios".
  2. Open the Reviews section on the page.
  3. Type the tag in Only reviews tagged.

Leave Only reviews tagged empty to show your first reviews. If no review has the tag you typed, the section is empty, and a publish check warns you.

Reviews section settings

  • Heading: the words above your reviews.
  • Layout: Cards, Carousel (visitors swipe or click through) or Simple list.
  • How many to show: 3, 6 or All.
  • Only reviews tagged: see above.
  • Show star ratings: the stars from each review's Stars.
  • Show where each review was posted: adds "Review on Google" (or Facebook or Yelp) under the name, linked to the original if you added its link. Reviews Sent to us show no source.
  • Show a "Leave us a review" button: see the next part.
  • Show items one by one as visitors scroll: each review fades in as the section comes into view.

Ask customers for a review

Give your site your review link, and it can ask for reviews for you.

  1. In your Google Business Profile, choose Ask for reviews and copy the link it gives you.
  2. In the editor, click Business info in the left menu.
  3. Under Social links, paste it into Leave-a-review link.
  4. Open a Reviews section and turn on Show a "Leave us a review" button.
  5. Click Publish.

The button appears under your reviews and opens your review page. The link can go to Google, Facebook, Yelp or anywhere else you collect reviews.

Once your Leave-a-review link is published, your site also gets a short address for it: your site's address with /review on the end, like yourbusiness.com/review. It's easy to say on the phone, text to a customer or print on an invoice.

It works only if no page on your site already uses the address /review, and you haven't set up a redirect from it. See Redirects.

A QR code lets customers leave a review by pointing their phone's camera at it.

  1. Click Business info and paste your Leave-a-review link under Social links, if you haven't yet.
  2. Under it, find QR code for reviews and click Download QR code.
  3. A picture of the code is saved to your computer or phone.

Print it on receipts, invoices, business cards or a sign by the register. Scanning it opens your review page. If you change your review link, download the code again.

Still stuck?

Try it on the live demo first; nothing you do there is saved. If you’d rather have a person do it, ask for a work request from your dashboard. You’ll get a quote before any work starts.
