Getting started with the editor
Learn your way around the editor, how drafts and publishing work, and where to get help.
The editor is where you change your website yourself: words, photos, pages, menu, colors and how you show up on Google. This guide shows you around. You can try all of it on the live demo first.
Open the editor
- Sign in to your dashboard.
- Click Edit site. The editor opens, with Site Studio and your business name at the top left.
The editor has three parts:
- The left menu picks what you want to change.
- The middle holds the forms you fill in.
- The right side is a live preview of your site. It updates as you type.
The screens in the left menu
- Pages: every page on your site. Open one to change its words and photos, or click New page to add one. See Edit text and photos and Add a page.
- Menu: the links across the top of your site, the small links at the bottom, and the highlighted button in the top corner. See Change your menu and footer links.
- Business info: your name, phone, email, hours, address, logo and social links. Change them once and they update everywhere. See Business info and hours.
- Theme: colors, fonts and corner style. See Theme and brand colors.
- Integrations: connect tools you already use, like a booking calendar or payment links. See the list at the end of this article.
- Search & sharing: how your site looks on Google and when people share it, plus redirects from an old website. See Search and sharing and Redirects.
- Domain: the steps for using your own web address, like www.yourbusiness.com, with the values to copy. See Connect your domain.
Drafts and publishing
Your changes are saved automatically as a draft. Visitors don't see a draft. Only you do, in the preview.
The top bar shows Everything is published when your live site matches the editor, or a count like 3 unpublished changes. When you're happy:
- Click Publish at the top right.
- Your site updates in about a minute.
Each time you publish, a new version of your site is saved. If you ever regret a change after publishing, you can restore an earlier version for free.
Changed your mind before publishing? Click Discard in the top bar, then Discard changes. This throws away all unpublished changes and puts your draft back to match the live site. It can't be undone, so only use it when you want a clean start.
There is no undo button yet. To reverse one small edit, change it back by hand.
Preview on a phone, tablet or computer
Most visitors will see your site on a phone, so check it there before you publish.
- Find the bar above the preview, marked Draft preview.
- Click the computer, tablet or phone button on its right. The preview redraws at that size.
You can also click links in the preview to move between your pages, and click any part of a page to jump to its form.
To see what visitors see right now, click View live site.
Editing on your phone? The screen is too small for both halves, so use the Edit and Preview buttons at the top to switch between them.
Where to get help
- This help center. Every task in the editor has a step-by-step guide. Start with the articles linked above.
- Support requests. Something not working, or a question the help center doesn't answer? Send a support request from your dashboard. It's free. Our assistant answers most of them within minutes, and billing, domain and canceling questions go to a person.
- AI changes. For something the editor can't do, like a new kind of section or a layout change, describe it from your dashboard. You see a price before anything runs, and you pay nothing if you don't keep the result.
- Work requests. If you'd rather have a person do it, send a work request from your dashboard. You get an automatic quote first, and work starts only after you approve it.
There's no phone line. Help from a person is free for billing, domains, canceling and anything that's our fault, and quoted up front for everything else.

Still stuck?
Try it on the live demo first; nothing you do there is saved. If you’d rather have a person do it, ask for a work request from your dashboard. You’ll get a quote before any work starts.
