Your team and who has access
Invite your staff or your web developer, choose what each person can do, pick the emails you get, hand a site to a client, and switch between businesses.
Your account can have more than one person. Each person signs in with their own email address and gets a role that says what they can do. The account's sites, plan, credits and inbox are shared by everyone in it.
Who can do what
- Owner: everything, including billing, launching and canceling sites, add-ons, downloading a site, connecting Stripe, and who has access. An account always has at least one owner.
- Developer: everything in the editor, including AI changes, work requests and your own code in an Embed code section. Not billing or who has access.
- Editor: words, photos, pages, lists and the inbox, and publishing them. Good for someone who keeps the site up to date, like a manager or a marketing person. Editors can't ask for AI changes or work requests, or change your own code. They can still paste a service's embed code.
Anyone with access can use the account's credits, for AI pictures for example. Only owners can add more.
Invite someone
- Sign in and click Team in the menu.
- Under Invite someone, type their email address in Their email.
- Pick their Role. The words under it say what that role can do.
- Click Send invite.
We email them a link. They get access when they sign in with that email address, within 14 days. Until then, they show in People with access as invited, with Send again and Take back buttons. Only owners can invite people.
Limit someone to some businesses
If your account holds more than one business, you can choose which ones a developer or editor sees. It's how an agency with one bill keeps its clients apart.
- When you invite them, tick the businesses under Which businesses? For someone already on your team, open the list under their name in People with access and tick there.
- Leave them all unticked to give them every business, including any you add later.
Someone limited to some businesses can't see the others, and can't see the account's billing, credits, API keys or the rest of the team. Owners always have the whole account.
Change a role or remove someone
On the Team page, owners see each person's role in a drop-down list under People with access. Pick a new role and it changes at once.
Click Remove next to someone to take away their access. If they have the editor open, it stops working the next time it saves.
Leave an account
Click Leave next to your own name on the Team page. You lose access to the account's sites until an owner invites you again.
An account needs an owner. If you're its only owner, make someone else an owner first.
Choose your emails
Under Emails I get on the Team page, tick what you want to hear about:
- Form messages and chat questions
- Bookings and class packs
- Orders and payments
- The monthly report and newsletter problems
Each person chooses their own. Owners start with all of them, and everyone else with none. Billing emails, like a failed payment, always go to owners. Everything still shows in the inbox and the editor, whichever you choose.
Hand a site to your client
If you're a web developer who built a site on SiteBrite for a business, you can hand it over when it's done and keep working on it:
- On the Team page, invite the business owner with the Owner role.
- Once they've signed in, change your own role to Developer, or click Leave.
- The business owner puts their own card on the plan from Billing › Manage billing. The plan's receipts go to them from then on.
The emails about the business follow each person's choices, so your client chooses theirs under Emails I get.
Move one business to its owner
If your account holds several businesses and one of them wants its own, see Move a business to another account. It keeps the site online and its customers with it.
Work on several businesses
Give each business its own account, with its own plan, sites and team, to keep their customers, messages and bills apart. Or keep several businesses on one account and one bill, and limit who sees which.
- To make another account, click New account at the bottom of the Team page, or pick New account… under Business in the menu.
- When you belong to more than one account, pick the business you're working on under Business at the top of the menu.
- When you launch a site and own more than one account, the launch page asks which account it goes on.
To add another site for the same business, don't make a new account: launch it on the account you have, and it joins that account's plan. See Launch another site.
Still stuck?
Try it on the live demo first; nothing you do there is saved. If you’d rather have a person do it, ask for a work request from your dashboard. You’ll get a quote before any work starts.
