Connect Gmail and Google Drive

Connect your business's shared Gmail so replies come from your own address, and its shared Google Drive so you can choose photos from it.

Most small teams share one Google account, like info@yourbusiness.com, for the business's email and its Drive. You can connect that account once. Then replies you send from your Inbox come from your own address, and you can choose photos from the Drive when you edit your site.

Each connection belongs to your business, not to you, so it keeps working if someone leaves the team. Only an owner can connect or disconnect it, reply from the shared Gmail, or choose photos from the Drive. Everyone else keeps working as before: their replies go from your business's name, and answers come to them. See Your team and who has access.

Connect Gmail

  1. In your dashboard, open Connections.
  2. On the Gmail card, click Connect Gmail.
  3. Sign in to Google with the address your whole team shares, not your own personal one.
  4. When Google asks what to allow, leave the box ticked and click Continue.

You land back on Connections, which now says which address is connected. If you picked the wrong one, click Use a different account.

Reply from your Gmail

Open a message in your Inbox, in the editor or in your dashboard. Under the reply box it says where your answer will come from, like "Emailed to maria@example.com from info@yourbusiness.com. Their answer comes to that Gmail." Write your reply and click Send reply.

It goes to the person who wrote, from your address, with your business's name on it. It's also in that Gmail's Sent folder, and when they answer, their answer is in that Gmail. Your reply is listed under the message with from your Gmail.

We only send the replies you write. We can't read your mailbox, so their answers don't come back into your Inbox here: you read them in Gmail.

If Gmail can't send

If Gmail doesn't send a reply, we tell you and nothing goes out. Press Send reply again, or click Send from SiteBrite instead to send the same words the usual way, from your business's name through us.

If Google has stopped the connection, for example because the account's password changed or someone removed access in Google's settings, Overview shows Gmail needs to be connected again and Connections says Needs connecting again. Click Connect again and sign in the same way. Until then, replies go the usual way and the reply box says so.

Connect Google Drive

  1. In your dashboard, open Connections.
  2. On the Google Drive card, click Connect Google Drive.
  3. Sign in with the address your whole team shares, and leave the box ticked when Google asks.

Choose photos from your Drive

  1. In your site's editor, open a section with a photo and click Change (or Choose photo). See Change a photo.
  2. In the Choose a photo window, open Google Drive and click Choose from Drive.
  3. A window from Google opens with your Drive. Find your photos, click the ones you want (up to 10 at a time) and click Select.
  4. One photo is used right away. If you chose several, they're added to Your photos, ready to use.

We copy only the photos you pick, resized for the web like any photo you upload. JPEG, PNG and WebP photos under 25 MB work; photos from an iPhone saved as HEIC don't, so choose a JPEG copy. If nothing opens when you click, your browser may have blocked the pop-up: allow pop-ups for the editor and try again.

Save a monthly copy to your Drive

Once Google Drive is connected, you can have us save a copy of each month's records in it, as spreadsheet files you can open in Google Sheets or Excel.

  1. In your dashboard, open Connections.
  2. On the Google Drive card, tick Save a copy every month.

When each month ends, we save that month's form messages, bookings and contacts in your Drive, in a folder called with your business's name, inside Exports, in a folder for the month (like 2026-10). The files are messages.csv, bookings.csv and contacts.csv; a file that would be empty isn't made. Messages marked as spam, bookings still waiting for payment and people you've removed aren't included. A month with more than 5,000 rows in a file is cut there.

It's off until you turn it on, and the first copy is for the month you turn it on in. To save last month's now, click Save last month's copy now: that replaces the files for that month, so you never get doubles. If a copy doesn't work, the card says why, and we try again within the hour.

These files hold your customers' names, emails and phone numbers, so anyone who can open that Drive can read them. Share the folder only with people who should see them, and untick Save a copy every month to stop.

What we can see

  • Gmail: we can send the replies you write, and nothing else. We can't read, search or delete your email.
  • Google Drive: only the photos you pick, and the folder we make for the monthly copy if you turn it on. We can't see or change anything else in your Drive.
  • For both, the Google account's address, so we can show whose account it is.

Disconnect

Open Connections, find the card and click Disconnect. Replies go back to being sent from your business's name through us, and photos you already added to your site stay. You can also remove access in your Google account's security settings. When a business moves to another owner, its connections are removed, and the new owner connects their own.

Still stuck?

Try it on the live demo first; nothing you do there is saved. If you’d rather have a person do it, ask for a work request from your dashboard. You’ll get a quote before any work starts.
