Class packs

Sell "5 workshops" or "10 classes" at once. Customers buy a pack on your site and use a class each time they book, with just their email.

A class pack is several classes, workshops or visits sold at once, like "5 workshops for $150". Customers buy it on your site and pay into your own Stripe account. Then they book each class when they like, without paying again. They don't need an account: the pack belongs to the email address they bought it with.

Class packs come with the Bookings add-on, or with the Business plan. Selling them needs Stripe connected, like paid bookings. See Connect Stripe.

Make a pack

  1. Click Lists, then Class packs, then Add a pack.
  2. Give it a Name ("5 workshops"), the Number of classes and a Price.
  3. Under Can be used for, choose what it pays for:
    • Anything booked on the site
    • Event sign-ups, or Events in one category, like your Workshops
    • Appointments, or One appointment, by its name
  4. Under Use within, choose how long it lasts after it's bought, or No end.
  5. Add a Class packs section to a page, like your Events page, so people can buy it. Publish.

About expiry dates: some states treat prepaid packs like gift cards and limit or forbid expiry dates. "No end" is the safe choice. Check your state's rules before you set one.

To stop selling a pack, turn off For sale. Packs people already bought still work.

Buying one

In the Class packs section, a customer clicks Buy, adds their name and email, and pays on Stripe's checkout. Back on your site, they see that the pack is ready. They also get an email saying how to use it, and Stripe sends a receipt. You get an email too.

Using one

When they book something the pack covers, the booking form shows Use my class pack:

  1. They tick it, fill in the form with the email they bought the pack with, and press the button.
  2. We email them a 6-digit code. They type it in and press the button again.
  3. It's booked, with nothing to pay. The confirmation says how many classes are left.

After the first code, their browser remembers their email for 90 days, so they aren't asked again on that phone or computer.

A booking for 2 people uses 2 classes. If someone cancels in time (by your rules in Bookings › Settings), their classes go back on the pack. So do bookings you decline. When you cancel one yourself, you choose whether to give the class back.

A pack doesn't pay for a place on a waitlist.

At the door

Every pack has a QR code, in the email they get when they buy it and on the page it links to. Scan it in Bookings › Check-in to check them in. If they booked the class with the pack, nothing more is taken; if they just walked in, you use a class from it right there. See Check people in with a QR code.

See and change packs

Open Bookings and find Class packs. It lists who holds which pack and how many classes they have left, newest first. Search by name or email. Open one to see every class used and given back.

  • Add a pack sold in person: for one paid at the counter or by phone. Nothing is charged; take payment the way you usually do. They get the email saying how to use it.
  • Add a class or Take a class away, with a note: for a missed class you're making up, or a mistake.
  • Booking by hand: in Add a booking, turn on Use their class pack to take the class from the pack their email holds.

A booking paid with a pack shows Paid with: Class pack and the classes left.

Refunds

Refund a pack in your Stripe dashboard. A full refund stops the pack working. To refund part of one, also take away the classes you're refunding.

When you leave

Download your site includes class-packs.csv: who holds which pack, with the classes they have left.

Still stuck?

Try it on the live demo first; nothing you do there is saved. If you’d rather have a person do it, ask for a work request from your dashboard. You’ll get a quote before any work starts.
