Errors and limits
What an error looks like, what each one means, and how much you can do.
Errors
An error has a status code and a sentence saying what went wrong, written to be shown to a person:
{
"statusCode": 402,
"statusMessage": "This month's video minutes are used. This video costs $0.80 from credits ($0.10 a minute): add credits to make it."
}
| Code | What it means |
|---|---|
400 | Something in the request is wrong: a name the template doesn't have, text that's too long, a color that isn't one. The message says which. |
401 | No key, a wrong key or a revoked key. |
402 | Your minutes and credits don't cover this video. Add credits, then try again. |
404 | No such brand, template, size or render in this account. |
413 | A photo over 4 MB. |
415 | A photo that isn't a JPEG, PNG or WebP. |
429 | Too many requests for now. Wait, then try again. |
502, 503 | Videos couldn't be started just now. Try again in a minute. |
Nothing is charged for a request that gets an error.
Limits
The limits are there to stop runaway scripts and key guessing. Your minutes and credits are the real limit.
| What | Limit |
|---|---|
| Renders started from one IP address | 300 an hour |
| Renders started for one brand | 120 an hour |
| Photos added to one brand | 200 an hour |
| Requests with a wrong key from one IP address | 30 an hour, then blocked for the rest of the hour |
| Keys per account | 20 |
| A photo | 4 MB |
