The AI check
See whether AI names your business when someone asks for one like it, who it names instead and what you can do about it.
More people now ask an AI assistant for a recommendation instead of searching. The AI check asks them what your customers would ask and shows whether they name you. You'll find it in Dashboard › AI check.
What a check does
- Looks at your website. We check that the crawlers these AIs use to look things up can read it. If all of them are kept out, we stop there, give your credits back and tell you what to fix.
- Writes the questions. They're what a customer would ask, like "Who's the best plumber in Boise?" They never use your business's name, since naming you would prove nothing.
- Asks ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini, each with web search on, several times, because the same question often gets a different answer.
- Shows you the results: how often each AI named you, who it named instead, what it actually said, and what to do next.
A check usually takes a few minutes. You can leave the page, and the results will be there when you come back.
The two checks
Each check is a one-time payment from your credits. There's no subscription.
| Quick check | Full check | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | $3 | $10 |
| Questions | 5 | 15 |
| Times each is asked of each AI | 3 | 5 |
| Good for | Finding out if AI names you at all, and who it names instead | Seeing which sites the answers lean on, and comparing with a later Full check |
You see the price before you start. If any AI doesn't answer at least half of what it's asked, you get your credits back and can still see what came in.
How to read the results
These are the answers these AIs gave when we asked through their business services, using cheaper versions of their models and web search. They aren't what any one customer sees. People using the apps may get different answers, based on the version they use, where they are and what they've asked before.
- A small change usually means nothing. Answers vary a lot from one try to the next, so going from 3 to 5 mentions may be chance. Quick checks are too small to compare over time.
- The AIs can be wrong. An answer can name a business that has closed or describe one wrongly, including yours. Check anything before you rely on it.
- Nobody can promise you a mention. No one controls what these AIs say. The steps in your results are the things they can read and repeat, which also tend to help with ordinary search.
